RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

** Vehicles are for use within the Orkney Islands only**

The driver must:

• Have held their licence for over 1 year.
• Be over 25 years, and under age of 75 years.
• Supply a UK photo driver’s license
• EU drivers must possess a driving licence and either a passport or ID card. Drivers outwith the EU must possess a valid domestic driving licence with English translation. If an English translation is not available, an international driving permit is required in addition to a domestic driving licence. A passport must also accompany a domestic driving licence.

*Failure to meet the above criteria means we are unable to hire a vehicle to customer.

 

Hire rate and Insurance:

 

• Minimum Hire is 24hours

 

• All rates are inclusive of VAT and comprehensive insurance but not collision insurance whilst being driven by driver. Excess is £1000, however for £15 per day of hire the excess can be reduced to £250.

 

COLLISION DAMAGE INSURANCE
As the hirer, you are responsible for any damage to vehicles whilst the vehicle is in your control and on hire. Your comprehensive insurance cover, which is included in the hire costs, limits your financial responsibility for any damage to £1000, but this can be further reduced to £250 if you opt to purchase Collision Damage Insurance. This is available at an additional cost of £15 per day and we strongly recommend you avail yourself of this option, not only for the peace of mind but also to reduce your financial liability to £250 for each and every incident. This insurance must be purchased at the commencement of hire.
Please note Collision Damage Insurance does NOT cover your financial liability for the full cost of repairing and/or replacing tyres, wheels, wheel trims, wing mirrors, keys, immobilisers, any other damage to the windscreen or interior of vehicles in your possession. These costs will be borne by you, as the hirer, should such incidents occur during the hire.

 

Mileage:

• Unlimited while in the Orkney Islands

 

Responsibilities of Hirer:

• Responsibility for all parking fines and traffic penalties.
• Responsibility for repair of any punctures sustained during car hire period.
• Car to be kept in good order internally.
• No smoking or vaping in vehicle – this will occur a cost of full Valet if found on return of vehicle.
• No animals in vehicle – this will occur a cost of full Valet if found on return of vehicle.

 

Payment:

• Full payment must be made at time of collection at start of Hire.

 

Vehicle Inspection:

• This takes place at start of Hire and on return of vehicle.
• If there is significant 'soiling of interior there is a set charge of £120 to cover valet clean

 

Fuel:

• The Hire car will have a full tank of fuel on collection. The Customer is to fill tank prior to the car being returned. If the tank is not refuelled there will be a £10 charge plus fuel cost.
• If the hirer accidentally fills the hire vehicle with the wrong fuel type, the hirer will be responsible for any repair bill plus the cost of refuelling the hire vehicle with the correct fuel type.

 

Collection/Delivery
Collection/ Return of vehicle will be from Bayview Garage Car Hire Office  - entrance is on Garrison Road, Hatston Industrial Estate.

if you require collection from the Airport or Ferry terminal this must be arranged prior to booking.
